Silicon Valley is a region in the southern part of the San Francisco Bay Area in Northern California, United States. It is renowned as a global centre for technology and innovation, housing many of the world's leading technology companies, start-ups, and venture capital firms.
The term "Silicon" in Silicon Valley refers to the high concentration of semiconductor and computer-related industries that initially populated the area. The region has since become synonymous with the tech industry and is home to major companies like Apple, Google, Facebook, Intel, and many others. Silicon Valley is not just a geographical location; it represents a hub of innovation, entrepreneurship, and technological advancements that have shaped the digital landscape on a global scale. One company that I chose to talk about from Silicone Valley is Zoom.
Zoom Video Communications
(Zoom Video Communications provides online video conferencing and chat services through cloud-based peer-to-peer software)
A small throwback to 2020
The company was founded in 2011 by Eric Yuan, a former Cisco engineer and executive. It launched its software in 2013
During its beginnings, Zoom struggled to gain investors as the video communication market was already populated
Why did everyone suddenly use zoom during lock down? according to google its "Because, unlike all the alternatives, Zoom…just works"
Provides a emotional support through their employee assistance program
"offers an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that includes emotional support, financial resources, and legal guidance"
