Glitch is associated with noise, error, correction, malfunction, misalignment, failure, distortion, disturbance, overcoming, overthrowing, transcending, feedback, interference, static, resistance, wildness, corruption and "beyond the colonisation of bodies through racial, social, sexual and cultural stratification". With all this in mind, we prepared ourselves today to experiment with this curious form of photography.
Before we delved into our experiments, we asked ourselves a proper question, "How can we play with machinery, software, images, videos and sounds to invite/introduce/discover unexpected effects as part of the process? As part of the creative collaboration between ourselves and these technologies, tools and materials?"
We created a mind map to explore glitch in more details:

Experimenting with Glitch
My friends and I recently decided to experiment with the "high key light mono" mode on our iPhones. The setup was simple - we found an object to focus on (a microscope, in this case) and arranged our phones in a line, using the furthest phone to capture the images.
This proved to be a fascinating experiment, as we discovered just how uniquely the iPhone camera behaves when used in ways it wasn't originally intended to. We took multiple photographs, each with a distinct and almost unpredictable look. This process reminded me a lot of traditional darkroom printing, where you can create something captivating through happy accidents - the art of embracing photographic serendipity, if you will.
While I already have some ideas for my ongoing project, I continue to thoroughly enjoy the experimental process. There are so many unique photographic methods just waiting to be explored and discovered. This iPhone "high key light mono" experiment was a great example of that - a simple setup leading to surprisingly creative and fun results.
